Jeans are often considered hot, heavy and uncomfortable for active wear, but we all know that is no longer the case. Stretch jeans are all the rage – as are stretch pants of all kinds. But no one ever accused jeans of being weatherproof, at least until DUER introduced their new weatherproof jeans.
Weatherproof jeans, you ask? Yup; DUER’s new Weatherproof Denim is designed for going anywhere, anytime and in any weather, rated to a water resistance of 18,150mm and a Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (a measure of breathability) of 13,000, which puts it in at better than most moisture-wicking clothes.
Does that mean it’s “waterproof?” Not exactly. These jeans will repel water – very well – but the seams are not sealed. And, there’s no DWR coating – so it’s not completely waterproof and immune to moisture. They will protect you effectively in light rain, splashes and in all but the heaviest downpours.
The denim is, however, windproof – making it an excellent choice for commuting by bike. This is thanks to a 100% polyester membrane beneath the denim, which is a 70% cotton, 28% poly Coolmax and 2% Lycra blend. Coolmax means hollow fiber cores, which help regulate body temperature, and together, these two layers make for a very breathable, moisture-wicking pair of pants with a bit of stretch; again, perfect for biking, as well as just everyday wear. It’s then coated with SilvaDur anti-microbial treatment to minimize odors.
Further features include DUER’s invisible seat gusset to prevent blowouts, and reflective details under the cuffs and the waistband to provide visibility at night. Throw in the slim-and-stylish, maximized-for-performance and built-to-blend-in-with-the-most-up-to-date-style cut, and this is a dynamic and eminently-wearable weatherproof jeans that we think is totally worth the almost $200 price tag.
