There’s an e-bike for just about every situation these days, whether you wish to start shredding some trails or just take a relaxing ride through the neighborhood. But while most electric bikes give the impression of being…well, electric-powered bikes, the Trek Crossrip+ is a bit different. It’s not so much an E-bike as it is a road bike with an additional, incredibly efficient electric motor.
When you first see the Crossrip+, you may be surprised at how much of a roadbike it is. Except for the rack and fenders on the back – which outfit it for morning commutes – it looks like it would be just as comfortable on the Grand Prix as it is commuting to work. Which is why it’s such a great bike.
The Crossrip+ is built on an Alpha Gold Aluminum Frame, with a carbon rigid fork; this keeps weight low and keeps you from being weighed down. The drivetrain is a SRAM Force CX11, and 11-speed, paired with a RIDE+ aluminum 20T crankset. The rims are Bontrager Connection alloy, with Bontrager H1 tires, and hydraulic disc brakes offer some good stopping power and handling.
The coolest part of this bike, however, is obviously – the Bosch Performance Speed motor, which sits on the frame underneath the seat and puts out 350-watts of power, helping you reach (and sustain) speeds of up to 28 MPH. Which is faster than even the most elite of cyclists over long distances. Perfect for keeping up with your more conditioned friends or as it’s likely meant for, getting to work quickly without breaking a sweat. Or you know, just getting out there and having fun yourself.
The Bosch motor is powered by a Bosch PowerPack 500, a li-ion battery featuring 500 Wh of power and super-easy use. It just comes off the bike, and you can take it inside whether to recharge or keep it safe.
So, if you’re looking to avoid rush-hour traffic and make your morning commutes so much easier, the Crossrip+ is the commuter bike you’re looking for.
