Every outdoorsman needs a trusty blade – whether that means a simple pocketknife just to begin or a full-fledged outdoor axe that can fell trees (with a bit of work).
Todd Rexford is an accomplished custom knife-maker, and one of the best in business. Which is probably why his R.U.T is selling for $130, when it seems to be nothing more than a fancy razor blade handle/box cutter. But hey, the R.U.T. – short for Rexford Utility Knife - might just be the ultimate utility razor blade.
Minimal Form, Maximum Utility. That’s how the James Brand bills the Elko knife. And from what we can tell, this knife doesn’t disappoint in that regard.
A few months back, at iCast 2017, Gerber announced their latest addition to their arsenal of knives and multitools – the Fishing Collection. Aptly named, as it is intended for hardcore anglers and those who find themselves heading off the beaten path in pursuit of piscary prestige.
How does your EDC gear compare to this? We are always impressed with Columbia River's designs. The Columbia River Knife and Tool 5311 CRKT Pilar is no exception. The Pilar™ is a super compact everyday carry folder with distinctive minimalist design and an epic tale behind its name. It’s low profile is understated when tucked away, and carefully designed to punch above its weight when in use. Where minimal design meets maximum utility.
The last few Leatherman knives we have highlighted have had some premium features, perhaps even been the king of all multitools. The Leatherman MUT is a capable multi-tool, completely operable with only one hand. Leatherman designed it with military and law enforcement in mind, decking it out with an array of tools (16, to be exact) suitable for both tactical and everyday use. This includes several different threaded spots for attaching cleaning rods and additional tools, and the screwdriver bits are sized for adjusting both military and civilian scopes and sights.
Are you prepared to get out of your auto in an emergency? Fire, non-operating car door, water submersion. Just about everyone has had some sort of automotive catastrophe where they have been locked out of their vehicle or have been forced to assist someone else in the process. For those trying times there exists the AutoXscape 3-in-1 Car Emergency Multitool and Flashlight.
Omega didn't disappoint with their 2017 Basel World releases; specifically the Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer. We are suckers for the original Speedmaster series from Omega. It's hard to beat in it's understated class. The new Racing Master Chonometer steps it up a notch with the orange accents paying homage to it's motor racing heritage. Arrowhead indexes filled with Super-Luminova and the expanded subdials set off this beautiful update of the original 1968 Speedmaster design.
