If you know anything folding knives, you know the Chris Reeve Sebenza. First launched more than 30 years ago, the Sebenza has become the folding knife against which all others are measured (in a manner of speaking). It’s been through a few iterations throughout the years…but the Sebenza 21 cemented itself as a standby as well as a “gold standard” of folding knives for over a decade now – thanks to its supreme handcrafted quality and unwavering reliability (as well as good looks).
Chris Reeve Updates The Renowned 21
Sebenza is the Zulu word for work, and that’s what these knives are designed to do. The Sebenza 31 is an update on the classic 21 and manages to bring that standby into 2019 without changing the trusty design too much at all. One obvious change is the ceramic ball interface in the Reeve Integral Lock, which adds an extra ceramic ball on the end of the lock bar – for a tighter lock-up as well as a longer lifespan. The pocket clip is angled and offset, as opposed to straight on the 21, and it now has only a single curved onlay.
The blade? It’s a CPM SV35N stonewashed drop point. And those gorgeous sleek handles are 6AL4V sandblasted titanium…which creates perfect combo of light, ridiculously durable and with a totally solid handfeel.
Sebenza 31 Out Now For 2019
The real question is, of course – is it worth the price tag? Seeing as how it is the official successor to one of the most legendary folding knives of all time, we’re gonna go out on a limb and say – yes it is. Even if that price tag is $375 for a Small (6.98″, 3 ounces) and $450 for the Large (8.4″, 4.7 ounces).
