In fact, most pieces look to be in the 25-30% off range.
Here’s how it works: when customers return their very lightly used gear to the store, REI goes through and picks out the best pieces in the best condition, and puts it back up for sale for an even better price. Yes, it’s used, but barely, and you save yourself a chunk of change. It’s almost like buying a late model car right after it’s been driven off the lot – you save the largest chunk of depreciation. Or something like that. Either way, it’s definitely better than putting returned gear back on the shelf as new.
