Hammock camping has really taken off in the past few years, and for good reason. Why sleep on the ground when you can sleep in the trees? They eliminate any need for a flat camping site, and can be set up pretty much anywhere you’ve got two sturdy trees (or large rocks, or posts, or what have you). That’s why we’re so excited for the new Mummypod.
If you are familiar with hammock camping, you are aware of some of the few problems that do accompany them. Swinging in the air doesn’t keep as much heat in as sleeping on the ground, which means they can be pretty cold when the temperature drops. And comfortably fitting your sleeping bag into a hammock can be a bit of a pain.
Mummypod seeks to solve all that, creating an integrated hammock with sleeping bag built in. You can choose from a variety of different down and synthetic bags, ranging from 30 degree bag to zero degree bags. You can also just choose the straight up hammock with no bag, if you’d like. Each bag comes with a suspension system, and is treated with VitalDry DWR coating, allowing water to bead up and roll off and keeping the insulation pack light and warm.
OutdoorVitals has also kept the price relatively low, too – costing less than a sleeping bag and hammock would normally cost on their own. The Mummypod looks like a great way to keep your kit warm, compact and all rolled together.
