Minimal Form, Maximum Utility. That’s how the James Brand bills the Elko knife. And from what we can tell, this knife doesn’t disappoint in that regard. The overall length is only 2.6” closed, but the function is big. It has a Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade that measures 1.74” in a drop-point shape, complemented by a pry bar, which is where the “maximum utility” comes from; the pry bar works as a key ring, bottle opener, screwdriver and pry tool all in one tiny package. All the basic functions of any pocket knife, in two tools. Impressed?
The handle – if you want to call it that – is made of anodized aluminum and fits comfortably on your keychain it’s so small. The blade has a tiny thumb hole (or nail nick, considering how small it is) for opening ambidextrously, with nothing but the flick of a thumb.
And to make things even better, the James Brand sends it in a reuseable, resealable Loksak® waterproof bag that they is certified to stand up against sand, snow and water to 200 feet deep. So whatever you feel the need to throw at the Elko knife, it can handle with ease.
Honestly, this knife looks pretty slick. It’s about the size of a thumb drive and just as useful in its own way. Available in four cool colors – black + black, black + stainless, silver + stainless, and electric moss + stainless.
