James Bond fan? Have you ever just really wanted your own DB5, straight out of Goldfinger? Then you might be in luck, as Aston Martin is going to build 25 limited replicas of the exact DB5 seen in the classic Bond film – as closely as possible, down to the Silver Birch paint job – in partnership with Eon Productions.
And, as if a working replica of such a classic car wasn’t enough, Aston Martin is making this a truly epic car by also incorporating many of the built-in gadgets seen in the movie. Like what? Apparently, such as the revolving license plate. Ejector seats? Oil slick dispenser? And machine guns? Probably not. The original car had a 4.0-litre straight-six with 282bhp and 280lb ft of torque, and we can only imagine the Continuation model will too.
This actually isn’t the first time Aston Martin has done such a thing, either. Earlier this year, they offered the DB4 GT Continuation, which ran for about $2.6 million. Neither of these two sweet rides are street legal (blame it on the revolving license plates), but for hardcore Bond fans, that shouldn’t ruin the experience too much.
How much will the Goldfinger DB5 run you? Right about $3.5 million. They’re being assembled at Aston Martin’s Newport Pagnell factory, and they’ll be ready to drive off the lot in the second half of 2019. But, as mentioned, there are only 25 being made – so you’ll probably want to reserve yours now. Then all you would need to be James Bond himself would be a nice suit, an expensive Scotch…and those ejector seats.
