You may know Dyson as the vacuum cleaner company. However, Dyson has joined the lighting market in a BIG WAY with the introduction of the Dyson Lightcycle Morph. We are super excited about this intelligent lighting product and the capabilities offered.
Usually if you want different light colors or temperatures, you have to swap out a bulb. The Dyson engineers found we spend 90% of our time indoors; therefore, there was a need to design a product that adjusted inside lighting to reflect natural outdoor lighting. With the Dyson Lightcycle Morph, algorithms for your geographical area track the sunlight via your smartphone to adjust the lighting produced by the lamp. The adjustments are done based on the time of year and time of day in your area. Adjustments are also made according to AGE!
The Lightcycle Morph lighting source comes from a series of LEDs. Because LEDs tend to emit heat, Dyson has added heat-pipe technology. A small amount of water circulates through a heat pipe to maintain cooling, thus extending the life of the LEDs. Ready for this? The heat-pipe technology allows up to SIXTY (you read that right) years of life from the LEDs.
Lightcyle Morph Lighting Options
- Task Light: The moveable light head focuses downward to provide targeted illumination on your task. This setting is designed to reduce eye strain. When in this mode, you have two options: Study Mode–surpasses recommended levels for studying and regulates blue light exposure in the evenings; and Precision Mode–Helps improve visibility and displays colors very close to daylight.
- Indirect Light: By rotating the optical head of the lamp, you can bounce the beam from a surface/wall to create a soft background light.
- Feature Light: Rotate the optical head to focus the beam to showcase an architectural feature in your house or draw attention to your favorite artwork.
- Ambient Light: By rotating the optical head, focusing the beam downward over the tubular stand, the head magnetically seals. The full tubular support stand produces a comforting glow through an orange filter, emitting light through the perforated lamp stem. The result is less blue light and a relaxing environment.
The Dyson Lightcycle Morph is pretty pricey. However, we believe intelligent lighting is the future.
