We love EDC knives as much as the next guy – if not more. Which is why we’re always looking at adding new ones to our collection. Whether light and affordable or worth spending half a week’s paycheck on, here are a few of the coolest EDC knives we’re looking at right now.
CRKT Raikiri
CRKT bills the Raikiri for when you “want a sword but need an EDC.” This unique knife is based on the sword wielded by a legendary samurai, who used it to slice through lighting. Even if CRKT’s rendition isn’t quite that sharp and precise, it is a work of art, designed in Japan with elegant curves and lines evoking the classic samurai blade. It uses a 1.4116 SS blade and comes with Field Strip technology.
Ruike P138
A durable and high-end tanto blade at an affordable price. The Ruike P138 rocks 14C28N stainless steel shaped into the extremely strong point of the famous tanto blade, which gives it some serious strength and cutting power. A ball bearing pivot makes opening the blade quick, smooth and easy, while the unique, tactical looking G10 handles keep it firmly in your hand. Also, Fenix backs up their Ruike knives with a 5-year warranty – so this thing is ready to go for a long, long time.
Gerber Ghoststrike
If you’re opting for a fixed-blade carry, the Gerber Ghoststrike is a unique go-to. It has an ergonomic skeletal frame that fits comfortably in your hand, with rubber overmolding that providing extra grip and comfort. A glass-filled nylon sheath keeps the 420 high-carbon stainless blade securely safe and securely fastened to your belt, and at only 3.6 ounces for both sheath and knife, it’s light enough to carry anywhere, any time.
Benchmade Saddle Mountain Skinner
The hunter’s EDC. Benchmade’s Saddle Mountain Skinner is a quality skinner blade designed for hunting, with a large-radius blade for skinning and gutting animals. But it’s ready for anything. Benchmade used CPM-S30V stainless steel for the blade, ensuring it’s rust resistant and holds an edge well. And it comes with either G10 or stabilized wood handle – water resistant and build to last. It weighs 4.7 ounces and is backed up with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Kershaw Cinder
We did say unique, after all… the Kershaw Cinder is tiny buy packs a large punch. The upswept tip sheepsfoot blade is only 1.4” long but can cut through virtually anything, being made from 3Cr13 stainless steel and sharpened to perfection. Complimenting that are some other cool features, such as an integrated bottle opener, liner lock tab to keep it firmly in place, and a thumb stud opener for quick, easy operation. It looks weird, yeah, but it’s easy and firm in your hand and can tackle a whole assortment of jobs…it also weighs less than an ounce.
